A 49 year old man by the name of John Unger adopted this dog 19 years ago. One night, John was going to commit suicide. But his dog, Schoep, saved him that night. In John’s words, “To be honest with you, I don’t think I’d be here if I didn’t have Schoep with me that night. He just snapped me out of it. I don’t know how to explain it. He just snapped me out of it… I just want to do whatever I can for this dog because he basically saved my ass.” So, John is returning the favor. Schoep is currently suffering from arthritis. He cannot fall asleep in his home because he is so uncomfortable. So everynight, John and Schoep go out in the lake wihile John holds him until the water soothes him to sleep and then brings him home and makes him comfortable. They saved each other.
